Morning All,
Recently fitted a new regulator / rectifier to my H2 as the old one wasn't charging the battery.
Now, after only a few rides, the new regulator / rectifier has blown and is not charging the battery again.
Anyone any ideas what might be causing this? What might blow a new regulator / rectifier?
I've checked the no load voltage coming from the alternator on the 3 yellow wires. All to book specs. Battery *seems* ok, checks with my testune seem to suggest it is ok and it holds the charge when I bench charge it so what could blow the regulator / rectifier?
Ok, showing my ignorance of matters electrical..... could a faulty horn or too powerful (but I think they are correct - will check this week) headlight bulb do it?
Cheers, all.
Mick.

Re: what could fry a new regulator / rectifier
Hi,
did you check the regulator according the procedure described in the technical manual?
clean the pins and the plug of the regulator, could be oxidized
regards,
Vince

Yes, checked as per the instructions. At work so don't have the results to hand to quote verbatum but it failed on several of the tests.
New regulator / rectifier, clean plugs, will check for oxidation of the contacts when I get back....
