Total ignition loss

Post by zxr_oli »

:smt013
Riding home from work,my bike just kept cutting out unless i reved the nuts of it. At high revs / large throttle opening it seemed ok, but at lower revs it just kept kangaroo'ing or cutting out completely if i pulled the clutch in, the rev counter also dropped down to zero each time.
Arrived home after alot of clutch slipping, i thought i could smell an electrical sorta burning smell.
Havn't had a look since it's dark outside, what do you think it is?
Only thing i can think of really would be the reg/rec, all other electrics are fine though.

Nope, not that i'm aware of.
It refused to start the other night and ended up having to bump it, but i put that down to running out of petrol lol.

Found the source of the burning, one of the pins on the block connecting to the reg is a little burnt.
However, it all seems fine now. Started up perfect, battery voltage was fine and reg output was fine. Just can't figure out why it's burnt.
Also, i measured the resistance on the burnt pin but that was fine (like 1-2 ohms).
