Gear pedal
Hi just bought a gear pedal assembly (including the footpeg and etc) from andy on this site. And Im trying to get the pedal, rather than changing the whole assembly, but I the allen key bolt does not want to move at all, so I started wondering is this thing all 1 piece? does that bolt come off to release the pedal ?
Thanks!
Oli

ye, I took my current one off the bike had a look as the assembly I bought is quite dirty and I couldnt see if that allen bolt was actually a seperate part. Yes it looks to be seperate, I dont have a vice (Im in uni so I keep moving house and dont have a set garage yet) anyway, Im off to get a generator cover gasket from a dealer tomorrow so might take both the assemblies and ask them nicely to loosen it for me.. shouldnt take them 5 minutes. Cheers anyways
Thanks!

Not at the kind of temperatures that a hot air gun will produce.olionel wrote: isnt the thermal shock going to damage the metal tho? as its brittleness?
If you used gas ans get it very (red hot) then yes maybe
If you do just clamp it in a vice use a good quaility and good fitting allen key to get it out if you damage it............. things will get much harder

Every nut and bolt has a specfic toque setting.
If you over tighten any bolt it will be stretched and therefore weakened.
I found the front brake caliper bolts on my old CBR 600 had stretched by nearly 5mm they were supposed to be 45mm long but one of them was nearly 50mm It was a race bike and the caliper bolts were in and out all the time.
Anyway the gear pedal lever bolt on you ZXR has a torque setting of 25NM or in old fashioned money 18ftlb.
A drop of grease on the bit that the lever pivots on would be good as well and of course some thread lock on the threads
