Rear Shock alternatives

Post by Mori Man »

Thought it might be worth while listing up what else has been fitted for others to follow:

I have read a few threads in here of folks using a ZX6 shock but with no year/model info , pic's or fitting instructions.

The OEM unit can be overhauled - I have two that both need the rod's re-chromed and total cost will run at around £70 a shock (new seals, bushes, oil , bottom damper and gas too).

I currently have a GPz900R Ohlins rear shock mounted up - fully remote :smt007 Needs a couple of spacers on the lower mounting (bought off the shelf size to follow) and you use the GPz lower mounting bolt to fix and apart from that it fit's fine :smt001

Braided line for remote gas is shorter than the ZXR one so it needs to find a new home, pre-load adjuster has plenty so can be mounted up no worries.

I also have a ZZR400 Ohlins with remote reservoir and it requires a 4mm spacer each side of the lower mounting and again using the ZZR400 lower bolt (Photo's to follow).
Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !
