My Uni-trak has no grease-gun nipples...

Post by banner001 »

...any one know where they have gone to?

I cant seem to see anything about models without grease gun points...so is this an aftermarket linkage on my bike? Its a '94 L-model.

I havent got any either although i have seen them in the fiche as you mention. If you want to grease them up youll have to get it all apart, but as its all sealed its probably ok.

just checked both manuals, they are shown on the illustrations as well as in photographs, i think it was section 12-12 for the H model, the L model has them illustrated as well...never mind, just it mentions them in the maintenance section, and getting a grease gun on them is easier than taking the rear shock linkages apart.

Come on Rob, are you being serious? It's well known that because this job on a Jap bike with no grease nipples is a PITA it is one of the most neglected service tasks, which is why so many older Jap bikes have shagged suspension bearings. Not to mention the fact that the Kwak factory seemed to treat grease like gold.

You do need to strip the suspension down and grease it and you are likely to find that there is bugger all grease on the swingarm bearings. You may well find these bearings, or the sleeve bearing surface, are shagged.

This job definitely needs doing at the recommended intervals, especially if the bike is used in the wet.
