Static sag on the rear

Post by atreyu »

Hi Guys,

I've replaced the rear shock on my zxr, but theres no static sag now. The spring has a (roughly) 20mm plastic/nylon collar on, where as the original shock didnt.

I guess I should remove the plastic collar from the shock, as theres plenty of threads to wind the preload on when its not there? What should the static sag be? about 5-10mm?

(this is my first mono-shock bike so I've never dealt with anything like this on the rear)

If you have no static sag then you need to take preload off.............I suppose that if that means removing the plastic collar then so be it.
But why was it there in the first place?.

What make of shock is it ?
