tapping from front brake caliper

Post by shakey »

my bike has a tapping from the right brake caliper. on closer inspection it seems that the ouside pad lifts slightly then drops hence the tap but I can't work out for the life of me what's causing it any one else had this? it doesn't effect breaking just bloody annoying!

What Baz said, if those covers arent on properly the pads will rattle like anything. Sometimes they can be bent out of place when your removing or re-fitting and you need to bend them back.

cool thanks for that I think I'll take a closer inspection and take the caliper off this weekend.

I went to change a break light last night - simple job you might think but now i need the wireing that goes into the light unit!

I don't want to panic you but my ZX6R did exactly the same thing and I'm afraid it was a warped disc that was doing it :smt009

Not bloody cheap to fix either.

I have the same problem as shakey i can only hear it when i go real slow, as i understand it if it was a warped disc when you pull the front brake it pulses thats how you know its a disc but this sound with the pads is just annoyin nothin more than that. for weeks iv been promising to get to the bottom of it but i aint haha, i dont know ay. :smt003

well no, but why would you go doing something like that? you need straight ones, not new ones!
