its a metal sleeve, loads on ebay and 6-pots will ruin your brakes...enjoy!

It was a suggestion for others. I already have k2 calipers, courtesy of Wabby. And arent you running gixer thou calipers?

on the rear i am, easier to get hold of than zxr 400 calipers, and its 300g lighter.
fronts, unless you go for a master cylinder with a much bigger bore, you just cant push enough fluid for 6-pots.
think about it, they have 50% more area, so you need to move 50% more fluid...unless you have a large-bore radial MC i guarantee you your bike will stop worse than a zxr with stock 4-pots. even then the effect on the road/track is fairly minimal.

Personally I think 6-pots are a complete fad which has already peaked (not that it ever peaked that much at its height) and they will go the way of anti-dive forks. There are so many 4-pot calipers out there which will haul a bike up that fast it will flip you over the bars that the extra weight / buggering about bleeding is just not worth it. And also remember that any extra weight on that side of the fork is unsprung which affects handling and cornering sharpness. It's a bling thing. Agreed there are better calipers available than the standard Tokicos but 6-pots are not the way to go. In any case, I find it very hard to believe that for road use a well serviced OEM Tokico set-up, with fresh seals and clean pistons, fresh fluid, new MC internals, and braided lines is 'not good enough'. If your brakes are not stopping you quick enough you either have a fixable mechanical problem or you need to look seriously at your cornering approach / anticipation skills.

I just go by the "if BSB/WSB/GP bikes don't have it, then it's not good enough for me" approach, they all use 4 pot calipers so they must be good lol

Those bikes are used on the track at full pelt....
If you want to upgrade the front brakes get braided lines and 4pot nissins from a blade.

As said, they don't use 6pots...do they! There must be a reason why they don't use 6pots...

I dont want 6 pots, happy with my brakes, just gonna be lines on and new pads just thought others would be interested in it

the brakes on the zxr400 are pretty good as std tbh, had 6 pots on my TLR and they were terrible, also on the zx7r, can't beat my old 1986 4 pot nissins they were Mint on my gsxr1100!
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Really? When I get up to the great playground in the sky I must search out Hizzy and ask him how he managed to win the 1992 Senior TT on a bike with toad brakes. He seemed to be able to stop ok from where I was watching at the Creg. The picture below shows the brakes on that bike to be 4 pot AP Lockheed calipers.BigB wrote:

Brian Crighton did experiment with 6-pots on his NRS588 but it is not accurate to imply that all Norton Rotary racers used 6-pots as that is very far from being correct.
