Bad rattle

Post by Paddy »

Hi all I have a zxr400l race bike and it's got a really bad rattle sounds like it's from the clutch .
I have changed the clutch and clutch basket and it's still the same ? The noise stops when you depress the clutch lever? Don't think it's the chain?
Has anyone else had the same ? Or can anyone help. Thanks Paddy

That sounds pretty terminal, does the noise change with clutch pulled in.

They all rattle and pulling the lever shuts them up, but that's excessive.
Either a fitment issue with the clutch basket or that's a big end/main bearing/ camchain knock/rattle

Yes it's nice with the clutch lever in . I'm going to change the needle bearing in the clutch basket and if no better I will split the cases and have a look at every thing else. Thanks Paddy. Ps I will keep you posted. Paddy

Hello Paddy, I am experiencing more or less the same. Did changing the bearing solved the problem?
