Removing cam when changing chain

I went to my cam chain and couldn't see a way of doing it without removing the cam shafts

you will need to remove the cams for sure. Careful undoing the cam caps and undo each bolt evenly or you risk cracking the cam caps.

remove the cams, support the chain somehow (rest an Allen key through the chain and on the head, or tie up with a bit of string to the mirror) then remove it, if you dont support it, it will fall down and coil up
