Re: L6 head gasket
i know sometimes people use copper gaskets to bump comp ratio, is that a trick used on zxr, or is head skimming/base gasket the way forward?
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

Here is a link for a HG on ebay sold by cradley

Ive just done my HG this week, the head got a port and polish while it was apart and lapped the valves.
I also removed the base gasket and used gasket sealant instead.

Re: L6 head gasket
i'm looking at doing this to my bike in the immediate future. I'm looking at new HG, and replacing the cam chain whilst i'm in there. Also thinking of getting the head polished whilst it's off (the carbs need re-jetting any way). Anything else I should be looking for whilst i'm in there? And is it possible/pracitcal to take off the barrels, have a large over bore done, fit new pistons, and then slip the barrels back on over the pistons? I know it's easier to drop the engine out, but i'm off limitied space. Then again trying to get a piston ring compressor in under the barrels, on two pistons at a time, whilst still in the frame... now that's limited space! Maybe i will just drop the engine...
