Splitting Crankcase

Post by jonb_5 »

Hi,

I've begun to strip the engine down and so far have the head, bores etc off. I need to remove the con rods from the crank to replace the bearings. From what I can see I'll need to strip the brakcase to do this.....I think I've taken all the bolts out holding the two halves together but it won't come apart. Has anyone got a diagram with the bolts I need to take out to make sure they're all out or any ideas about why it won't come apart.

Cheers,

Andy (Jons Brother!)

PS Sorry if any of the terminology is wrong I'm new to this :)

theres a manual on the site that shows all the bolts etc, it also says that there is sealant between the cases so might need some 'gentle persuasion'
heres the link

hope this helps

Only the very most gentle persuasion should be needed to split the cases... a gentle tap with a rubber hammer/mallet .................no more

if they don't come apart easilly then you've left a bolt on place.

And take care to remove the bolts in the correct order
