Head gone?!

Post by thermal »

right so i rode my bike 200 miles from my house in cambridge to my new house at uni in liverpool about a week or so ago. this is all motorway miles with me being sensible (ish) all the way.

i get the city centre and the bike gets hot and cuts out on me and just wont start, i leave it for a bit to cool and get some lads to give me a bump down a hill, which worked so i carried on to my house.

i leave it a couple of days and then when i go get on it it turns over but nothing.

i wheel it into a garage and drain the oil, which was scortched and had quite a bit of coolant in it, so im thinking headgasket. i also tested and cleaned the plugs which were fine. i did a compression test and from left to right read: 110-80-60-110 so i just assumed the headgasket between cylinder 2 and 3 had gone, but i did a pressure test on the radiator and it squirted out oil/water.

now im thinking that the cylinder head is warped and needs a skim, but a skim is only going to take off maybee 2/1000s" off which isnt going to seal the head again.

anyone got any advice? should i just buy a new cylinder head?

thanks

sounds like head gasket mate..

you can skim like .5mm off the head if you really want/need to so i wouldnt worry about needing to junk it

get it cleaned up and hold it against some plate glass (get a mate to hold it against your window) and you'll be able to see if its flat or not.
