I've seen a few issues with my 400H2 (owned a few months).
Changed the clutch cable, springs and friction plates, and the vibration I was getting
got better, but didn't go away. When idling in nuetral, the bottom end, or clutch, is
noisy, but when you pull the lever in, the noise goes away. On another thread, carsounds_Dan
said that it could be a worn clutch basket, as it's a common problem.
How do I check for wear in the clutch basket, before I go down the road of replacing?
Would a worn basket explain the vibrations? The bike is a bit rough, but not too bad, till
you get to 65, when it gets worse, but it eases off when at 70 and above.
Gear changes can occasionally be a bit clunky too.
Any advice much appreciated.

check how wobbley it is on its journal bearing, and also check how deep the pounding marks in the basket are - this is where the plates slam into the basket, that will give a good indication of how worn other aspect could be, and how harshley its been ridden.

Andy, not having a clutch holder, I couldn't take the hub off to have a
good look at the basket, however with the whole clucth assy still fitted
there seemed to be some wobble when I tried to move the basket.
Think this is evidence enough to replace the basket?
Having already replaced the clutch springs, friction plates and cable
(steel plates looked good), would there be anything else that could
have worn, and should be changed at the same time as the basket?
The manual says to bin the old hub nut and fit a new one, but doesn't
say why.

Straightline racing have used clutch baskets at £65 each.
AMS don't seem to have any at the mo., but I like their style
when doing business with them.
Fowlers in Bristol have quoted £189.12 plus vat for a new one.
Any other suggestions for where I can get a reasonably priced
basket off a low mileage bike?
£65 doesn't seem too bad, when you consider the cost new,
but they've got baskets off zxr750's for only £45, so I'm guessing
there's a supply and demand thing going on.
