Re: Timmig marks
line the "T" on the rotor up with the split in the cases, and the marks on the cams face away from each other, level with the top of the head casting.
be careful re-assembling and check it once the cam caps are torqued back down as they can (will) shift..
check the head for flatness on a piece of glass*, providing its all clean and not obviously warped it'll be fine.
*in the absence of a piece of glass hold it against a window and get a mate to look at it from the other side ... or vice versa, you'll be able to see if its flat.
if you suspect any warpage glue a large piece of wet'n'dry to the glass and do figure 8 patterns on it with the head ..
just make sure its all nice n clean before chucking it back together.
the base gasket ought to be replaced too if the heads been off.. or you can leave it without one (but seal with a smear of silicon) to slightly increase compression, there is sufficient piston/valve clearance on a stock engine for this to work, not nescesarily the case with high lift cams or a skimmed head though.
top end stuff is here if im not making sense, you need the H model manual, chapter 4 (the L model manual is just a supplement for the H, which has ALL the info in)
