Hoses Mix-up after river incident

Post by Miles »

Hey, after losing it on a left-hander and going through a barbwire fence and into a river my zxr hasn't been in the best of shape. I've finished stripping her down and drained her all out. On the re-build though I've forgot where the coolant filter coming off the carb's plugs into. Also there's a hose next to the water pump (short about 4"). Can't for the life of me work out where it goes. (Doesn't look right plugged into the filter).

Anyone help? :smt017

hey mate,

the tubes from the carbs that route the coolant, plug into the piping down just by the left hand side generator casing.

Got a pic of the pipe by the water pump? Cant imagine what pipe it is :smt017

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I should have said I have the gen-side hose connected to the carb's. But its the other side next to the actual coolant tank that puzzles me.

I've plugged the thick end of the filter into the carbs but now I'm left with the other end of the filter, the pipe coming from the top of the coolant tank and this short pipe next to the water pump. Sorry guys I'm at work so can't get a picture of it

The coolant for the carbs goes into one side (which youve already done) and the pipe on the opposite side with the bubble type thing plugs into the back of the engine block, theres a spigot in between cylinders 1 and 2 :)

The one on top of the expansion bottle just routes down behind it and points to the floor. Its an onverflow pipe so is meant to let coolant out if the thing overheats.

Still dont know what 4" pipe your on about next to the water pump is. Cant see anything like in my pics of mine.

Ok man thanks should be able to get it sorted it now. Maybe i've got the water pump confused with something else. That 4" pipe is inbetween cylinders 1-2. But next to it is a small block bolted on which I thought was the water pump.

I'll let you know if I've anymore trouble.

theres a small hose going from the left. Underneath 1-2 clyinder intakes. In line with the hoses that's bending round from the right.
