hi,the water hose on the left of my bike going from the bottom of my rad to the engine, swells up about 3 times its normal size, after 15 minutes of idelling,
temp guage does not work so im not sure how hot it gets,
also there is a thing on the left of the rad with 2 spades coming of it,wires are not attached,
does anyone know what it is,small round thing.
thanks for any info,
maybe overheating

Yea the thing on the left is the fan switch, if you bridge the two spades the fan should turn on. It should turn the fan on at around 85C automatically. If you don't have a temp guage you can check the temp by measuring the resistance across the thermistor/ temp sensor (you will need an appropriate meter to measure it).
The manual says: 80C = 47 - 57 ohms, 100C = 25 - 30 ohms .

Re: maybe overheating
Probably a leak past the inner armour which allows the water (under pressure) to leak into the outer casing of the pipe (I am assuming here that the hose is swelling initially at a single point and that the swelling then extends along the rest of the hose) - whatever the explanation - the hose is goosed.. If it is of any help I have a spare which you can have - say £15 (inc postage). My spare has got the carb icing tapping point on itpatlangan wrote:ok,but what is causing the pipe to swell, like a baloon.

Re: maybe overheating
no, the whole pipe is swelling the same size all over, maybe 3 times the size, and then reduces back down?

Hose is u/s - the inner armour is leaking allowing water (under pressure) into the outer sheath. If you are unfrtunate enough to spring a leak in the the outer hose when the bike is running you will have hot coolant spraying everywhere (depending on the size of the leak). The only answer is to replace the hose

Re: maybe overheating
that may have been blocked, but it still sounds as though the pipe is fubar. And now it is unblocked it probably isn't swelling (or not as much) but as has already been said, the inner armour of the pipe is compromised. Replace it just to be sure.
