Cheers ross46 , your the chap selling the gaskets aren't you ? Can I get a pulse cover gasket of you ?
Right started getting on with it earlier an took the pulse cover off to see how the chain is looking and my god wish I didn't
Chain is on max adjustment , so chain needed (tensioner can be reset ? )
And found a half moon almost like a staple in there
What's that ? Pic to come

That doesn't look like the tensioner, I think that is an actual staple and send me your address and send the money to ross_46@hotmail.co.uk and I'll get it sent tomorrow for you

Cheers pal how much do I need to send you ?
Yea it looks like a staple to me , I recall a thread a few pages back with the part that was a half moon sat in the case but his was much thicker.
How would a staple get in there

Yes it can. you have to compress it and get a paper clip or that staple you found and shove it in the hole before refitting the CCT.spudboy6 wrote:Few posts up I've stated its having a new chain and I asked if the tensioner can be reset but didn't get an answer
Once fitted pull the pin / staple out and the CCT snaps into place.

Okay thanks for that I wasn't sure how it was done as I've read about some being a ratchet design or is that older ones ?
I'll get on with it over the next few days when I get to the tensioner does it need removing from the case at all to compress it or should I leave the bolts alone on the outside ?
I'm sure when I get on with it will all make sense

ERRRRRRRRRR ~NO
the tensioner in the pic is the upgraded one...........tension is applied after fitting the body when the springs and bolt are replaced
the staple is interesting....................HTF did it get in there.......
Am I the only one who has noticed the metal filings on the left pick up bolt ??

Yea I've noticed the filings very un-nerving what I came across when I took the case off , will just have to remove and inspect parts as I go along and see what I find

Re: coolant coming out overflow update 26/10/13 HG time ??
Seem to be fairly common in pictures that ive seen, probably not seen in race engines or ones that are looked after, first time I took pulse cover off they were there, but since I haven't seen them, regular oil changes probably helps, never many filings in the filter which I cut and check every oil change. They could just be getting stuck there, thats the idea behind magnetic sump bolts. And spudboy6 I got your mobey but need your address to send the gasket.

Took the head off and found this looks like detonation , bores are un-marked and compression test before hand on no4 was good
So can this piston be re-used ? I've checked with a flat edge the head isn't warped and I think it will need a skim to remove the imperfections but what's caused this damage and how ? I had a spark plug snap not long ago in no4 but I have 3 damaged parts of the head near the valves
Would you reuse this piston ??
