I reckon after 20 years YOUR thermostat does need changing but I've no idea where it is ..................try a doctor
You'll find the one on your bike inside a little housing on the back of the cylinder head................it only needs changing if it has failed................you can remove it....... test it and replace if need be

Ok tbanks for the reply...
I recently read that you can run your bike without the thermostat?
would you still get readings on the gauge? And what would you replace the thermostat with :S
Cheers buddy!

if you remove the thermostat you just leave the housing empty thats all, (if you do remove it you might need some sealant on the housing as the thermostat seal is for the housing as well)
you still get a temp reading just the bike will take longer to warm up and might run slightly cooler whilst riding.
