High Idle Possible Solution

Post by jameswilco »

Hi, i remember reading a topic posted about the zxr's holding a idle at around 2800-3000 for abit when pulling up to lights, junction etc. i dont know if it was solved as i cant find the topic but i thought i would let people know what i found the cause to be, as you probabaly know the zxrs run a open/close cable system, i relaced my open cable this weekend and adjusted the close cable (as it was slack) and noticed the without the encouragement from the cable pulling the carbs shut the butterfly valves did not seat correctly back in, but with the cable adjusted up it pulled it straight back into normal posistion. sinse i have done this i havent had 1 high idle, it might not be the deffinate cure but i thought i would put it up and see if it works for others,

p.s sorry for the essay :smt005

nice one mate :D, i think people concentrate far too much on adjusting the opening cable they forget the return cable needs adjusting too.

Id invite everyone who has this idle problem to try this solution and report back.

Hi
Yes you solve the problem but I think there cann be the problem in the carbs.
I have that problem too and I looking some solution to fix them.Carbs must working good without any cables. The close cable only help to closing if pivot wont come back. You must find the problem without cables and fixing them.
Iff carbs working good without cables problem is in the cables.
Iff you have corect idle without filter box and when you puting back box with filter and than start idle problem you need to loocking
butterfly valves pivot cann be obsolete and there carbs drag the air.
