could anybody give me a brief step by step guide on how to to take the carbs off? i've not done much" mechanical"stuff before but i'll try and do it myself rather than take it to a garage, seeing last time i took it i did'nt get my bike back for 3 weeks!!!! i recon if i take my time i should be ok but any help would be very gratefully received.

Ill post up something later for you mate (in a rush to get ready for uni), meanwhile take a look in the manual on the main site, there should be something in there.

well slightly different bikes but on mine you disconnect the fuel pipe and throttle cable (there's 2 on the zxr) loosen the jubilee clips holding the carbs on and pull the carbs away from the engine.Obviously you need to remove the airbox first. You may need to disconnect the coolant pipes too if you have the carb heaters.Lets see what robB comes up with.

i just took my tank off and there was something rattleing about inside,
i managed to get it out and its a small circular object about the size of a five pence,it has some(what looks like) silicone rubber around it as if it has been stuck on inside the tank!!! the object has some words moulded in it reading TROVAN 300 aeg,any ideas? is it a tracking device.

yes i suppose so,but the silicone rubber was breaking down and falling to bits and floating around in the tank, probably what blocked my carbs in first place.
