not a bad idea. either keep soaking it with wd40 , use a screwdriver or im not sure if you undo all the allen bolts holding it on itwill come out.

Sounds crazy but do you push the cap down then turn? Thats what i do normally and thats alot easier to turn the key than without pushing it down.

if it's well and truly seized the only way your gonna get it out is to drill the whole lock barrel out and get a new or second hand one with a key, of course you'll also have to make sure you get all the crap that falls into your tank back out aswell.

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

oh i'd love to meet the idiot that designed a lock that only uses the tip of the key.

same as has been said before, keep soaking it and try pushing down on the cap to take pressure of the mechanism as you turn it.

hi, i had this very same problem on my tank after it was stood in a garage for a long time.

If you take all the screws out it still wont come out because there is another screw under the locking bit.

I tried to force the lock with the key but started to bend the Kawa. key which seems to be very soft! So in the end i went an got a key cut for a fiver and used that to force it open - opened fine after a little persuasion.

Once you do get it off youll find its the mechanism underneath thats seized (just a sliding bar made of dodgy metal that fuzzes up) drop some oil into it and work it a couple of times to free it up.

I know this sounds silly, but the arrow on my tank cap points in the wrong direction - the legend says 'unlock', but the arrow points in the direction you turn it to lock it.

like robB said. push down when u turn the key. tip: push down hard and give the key a quick flick the way it needs to go. surface rust is a bugger but with persuasion will give way.
