Carb adjusterizing

Post by the_avenging_bucket »

my ZXR rebuild is now almost complete, after riding the bike am a bit disappointed though :smt009

two factors:
1) live in pretoria, south africa, so pretty high altitude.
2) seal/gasket between carbs and airbox was non-existent, blankoff holes in airbox were gone.

i made a gasket and plugs to seal airbox properly, float bowl fuel level has been set and carbs have been synchronised with vacuum gauges. pilot screws adjusted for best idling. after these changes engine runs smooooth and climbs thru the rev range without a glitch all the way to redline :smt004
prob is, not enough power (also slow throttle response in nuetral) :smt019

floods very easily, soot deposit in can exit, and engine dies if you touch choke while idling(warmed up). this leads me to believe that the bike is running too rich... :smt017

how do i go about re-jetting the bike? (i want to DIY the job)

if i want to simply buy a few jets in different sizes (4 of each), what do i ask for? do all jets fit all carbs or do i need Keihin cvk-d32 jets?

Yes you will need Keihin jets are far as i know do a google search for the jets

And jetting is very simple at the bottom of the float bowl take out the 4 jets see what size they are then start down jetting but i would go down 3 sizes at a time but you should really Dyno the bike and then they should tell you what size is right for the job

Dont buy Kawasaki jets it will cost you the earth i use Bartons they good

Good luck mate

i don't kno if 99101-393 is for teh cvk-d32... they only say for cvk range...
if l1 to l9 used cvk-d32 then they *should* use same jets though...

i'll just find someone in pretoria or jo'burg who sells jets, and take one of mine with...

dang south africa can be useless sometimes...
