Quick update . Christmas saw the arrival of my viton kit but haven't had time to fit them so have been putting up with the rough running until last week when it started not pulling above 5000 rpm so today stripped and cleaned carbs again and replaced all the o'ring's and the only ones i didn't change were the tiny small one's as i couldn't for the life of me find out where they go and i was in a garage with no internet connection to check. The main jets are standard 95's and float hight's are good so once back together it run's better but still takes a while for the rev's to settle on idle but response is far better but as for the top end lean running i will let you know as i haven't been for a blast as i have just finished and i can't be arsed so will give it a run tomorrow .
As suspected all o'ring's were flat and brittle especially the needle jet seat ones . I took the pilot screws out 1.5 turns as they were 2.5 turns out .

Tiny O rings to the pilot screws, worth checking, they will be shot too, if they're even on the screw, last two sets I've stripped were missing all four in one case and one O ring and washer in the other, spring washer then O ring, bingo.
Does the low seat height reflect the low intelligence? Easier to get an asshole onto.

A definite theme developing with the pilot screws, are people removing these with their eyes closed before reseating them and adjusting???? Approx 5mm outer dia. with a 3mm dia. hole, whether they are made specifically for the screw I don't know, but Cradley have them, I had to order 1 the other day, biggest parcel you've ever seen The thickness will be critical too, so be safe and get the correct washer.Dorset shortwing wrote:Any idea of the washer size Kwack ?
They cost about £2.00 each from Cradley, so maybe try your local Keihin specialist and save a few bob, or follow any ZXR owners home and search their garage floor, I'm currently doing a ball bearing search of mine, one little fookers hiding on me :smt013

Just got around to fitting the pilot jet Orings and washers and the bike is slightly better but still couldn't pull the cock of a gnat . It will pull reluctantly to 12000 rpm but have to whack the choke on at higher rmp for a slight improvement ,,i have set the pilots two and a half turns from fully in ,,,,quite lost now but at least idle is better

the pilots will only change the 0-4k rev range, at high revs it's your main jet, what are you running main jet wise? i have some spare jets which you could try first before buying if you want to? ride through the rev range and add choke and find out at what revs you need choke then you can try adjusting the pilots, needles and mains. obviously the best thing to do is put it on a dyno but you can get it pretty close by feel normally

needs M3 washers under the needles and/or larger main jets.
