Gentleman, I need your help yet again.
Some of you might remember my little '88 ZX400G that I rebuilt. Been struggling for quite a while to get the fuelling right. Found out the other day the exhaust system I got for it is a full Beet system. Below 5k it struggles to rev up. Starts without a choke which leads me to believe that she is running rich. I put two shims under the needles so she pulls brilliant from 5k up (can't go much higher that 7500rpm cause I'm still running her in after a engine rebuild). Pilot screws are at 2.5 turns at the moment with a standard air filter. Now for the question. Will 2 and three quarter turns work or must I push till 3? Or any other ideas? Thanks guys

Re: ZX400G fueling probs
as with any fuelling issue, you can always get it on a dyno, they can then monitor the fuelling and advise on the set-up.

I hear you Rob. Problem is that all the places with Dyno's around me don't want to touch bikes. Only cars.

Re: ZX400G fueling probs
Just try turning the pilots out, also try using the choke at half below 5k in 3rd and see if it pulls better or worse, does it run better when warm or cold?

Re: ZX400G fueling probs
Runs terrible when its warm. Played a bit today before work. Got it a bit better by adjusting the floats from 13mm to 17mm. Its still running like crap when warm. Soort of richness but its much better. Going to play with the pilots tomorrow.

Re: ZX400G fueling probs
turn the pilot air adjusters out by 1/4 turn each and see what difference that makes.

Re: ZX400G fueling probs
if its already rich putting shims under needles will make it worse.
