L9 flat spot at 9k help

Post by dalo999 »

Hi all

I have a 1999 L zxr. iv just brought it off a friend who ran it out of fuel and it stopped working. i have cleaned the carbs out which were full of rust from the bottom of the tank and its fine now but theres a flat spot at 9,000 revs which was never there before apparently. it will eventually get through to the top end rev range but what do you thinks the problem. not enough fuel or too much fuel. also it has a hollowed out stubby on it now which may make a difference. Also i haven't taken the carbs off to see what is already in there. ( jet wise)

thanks

when approaching the flat spot open the choke and see what the response is, that will help you to decide if its lean (bike will pick up) or rich (will bog down a lot).
