drilling slide lift hole for dynojet

After my recent post I've purchased a stage 1 dynojet kit to try and get my fuelling right, in the instructions it says to drill the slide lift hole, I was wondering what the point of this is and if everyone does, also what's the normal diameter of this hole so if it becomes a problem I can fill it and re drill to standard size, thanks, ross
