Need help please : running rich/over fueling..

Post by Lewis400 »

Hi zxr'ers...

I have a bit of a problem, my bike isnt running properly.
It seems to not want to start and when it does it runs really rich and just spits big flames lol.. Cool but not good as i dont want it to do that lol it doesnt idle well either..

Ive changed the following recently :
Air filter
HT leads
Plugs
Fuel filter
Full carb clean

The carbs seem to be fine look like new. HT are brand new.

Weve not had a proper look yet as weve been too busy, but the coils seem to be ok, and the fuel pump is working.
But we rekon it might be the fuel pump pushing too much fuel through? If it makes sense?

And i think i might need new idle floats but cant seem to find any on ebay..

Could someone please help us? Need to get the bike 100% before september :)

Thanks alot!
Lewis.

Have you checked your air mixture screw?

I'd check mixture screws as above.

Excellent tip thanks..............I'm gonna get rid of the fuel pump cos if its not running then I can save a bit of weight by ditching it.

Are you serious?

One of the most over-engineered bikes has a fuel pump that isn't needed?

Really?

Whoops! I was quoting from a previous thread on this forum that I seem to have remembered wrong. Said thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=115&t=13287

I retract what I said in my previous post, got it wrong on this occasion! biggrin
