FCR's and arm pump...

Im currently running a set of 33mm SP flatslide carbs on my race bike. It gives me terrible arm pump due to the heavy throttle

does anyone have any tips or tricks to make the throttle a little bit lighter?

Arm pump is caused by gripping the bars too tight, braking and accelerating, nothing to do with any heaviness in the throttle action which uses the wrist muscles. Seriously, you have to be taking the p*ss here

I have experienced this with a set of flatslides. Sounds daft but I set up a bike on some FCR's I'd bought, went out for a couple of laps of brands and came in as my right hand was really pumped up. I knew straight away it was because the return spring on the carbs was too strong. On investigation, it looks like the previous owner had probably stretched the spring somehow so had refitted it with an extra wind . Whilst this closed the carbs well, the tension was way too much. At standstill it seemed ok (although noticeable heavier than the FCR's on my other bike) but it was only out on track that it was tiring. I would liken it to using a screwdriver for with some resistance for 5 mins continuously. Might seem easy at first but you soon loose all strength. Easy fix though, albeit a new spring cost an extortionate £6.50!

I've noticed this as well and I feel a difference in my two sets of FCRs they defo seem heavy ish

But I've never had the arm pump or wrist pain............................might just have a closer look at the spring
