IT HAD TO HAPPEN

Post by superman »

GUTTED!
came off the cbr on sat, pulled off the drive turned onto the road as i have many times then all of a sudden the back end comes out and 180 turn leaving me on the floor with the beast well gutted, snapped the top of me nose cone broke the foot peg but saved the genny cover cos me foot was over it, all in all could have been worse, not a lot of damage at all considering. thank got for the R&Gs on the rear frame.
all ill do is chalk it down to experience, think i must have put a fraction too much power out althoe it did go fairly easily.

fair play for admitting its your own fault far too many people are putting every crash down to diesel ect.

Still sounds like its not to bad should be a easy repair!

I think CBR repair costs are about the cheapest for any sportsbike ever! There do seem to be a hell of a lot of Kawasaki parts that go across the range of bikes over decades though - like ZZR600 parts are interchangable with a lot of ZX9R and ZX6r parts etc.

And DOH!!! @ Superman!

Did you get trapped under the bike and have to scream for help off a neighbour??? :smt003

you'd be amazed if you start to spin the rear on a bit of gravel or that kerbside dirt you'll barely notice till you lean the bike over. annoying when you dont know how it happened though, difficult to learn from that.

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

i was thought i might have got away with nobody seeing me but all of a sudden me moms old mate comes out from somewhere lol hey rob are you alrite, i though ahhh crap!
luckily me leg stopped under the bike and saved the jenny cover so its only minimal, need a new nose cone if i cant glue the broken piece back on, ill take a closer look the weekend. if i can glue it back on im only looking at the cost of a new foot peg, maybe some bar ends, and if i want to be finiky a LH mirror, but ill live with that. oh and new R&G's for the back frame. (they really saved alot of damage)
im just gutted it had to happen when i was looking forward to a good blast out with me mates. and ill notch it as +1 to rider error lol.

There was a thing in a mag a few months ago about spare parts, honda being the most expensive of all the makes (including BMW :O) over twice the price of kwack parts on average.

Its mad init, its like when you fall over or trip, you get up well fast and look around to make sure nobody seen you!
First time i fell off on track, as i was making my way down the track on my ass, i was thinkin..well, this wont go un-noticed so how am i gonna make it look cool. so I thought stand up before i stop sliding like they do at gp.. fell over again like a spooner :smt012

Exactly what i did!!!!! I fell off at about 110 so god knows how fast i was goin when i stood up! Pretty sure my helmet would have bin fine if i hadn't tried to stand up!! As it was I saw out the rest of the slide on my head!!
My bike had the good sense to slide on the grass :P lol

Harsh. Hopefully it's not too expensive. At least it won't require any major mechanical overhauls! Glad you got off ok too.

Yeah I remember reading up on repair costs and Honda came out as the most expensive - even over the Italians! shocking
Was because of the quality of the components and their manufacturing that they worked out more... And probably the fact that it's unlikely you'll ever need any spares! :smt003

yeah right from my own Honda experience the myth of amazing build quality is just that, a myth, made up by owners down the pub trying to justify the extra money they spend on buying a more expensive bike, servicing it and repairing it.

12 years ago id could agree they were better built but recently they've all caught up (apart from Sh*tzuki).

Sorry for thread rape! Got any pics of the damage?

That's kind-of right - at least the 90s VFR's were amazingly good for build quality, but the difference now is that they're all equally toad rather than all matching that spec!

I believe Suzuki build quality is still way below the rest though lol!
