sipping clutch

hi guys looking for some advice, bought my 1992 zxr400 off my mate and it had a broken clutch cable, so i replaced the clutch cable and had it out a few runs, first couple were fine now my clutch is slipping, any ideas? also when i was going out a run the last time i was full throttle in 5th gear and the revs just died and the bike eventually cut out. i then managed to get it going and got home just wondering if anyone has come across this fault before.
