Zxr 400 H1 De-Restriction

Post by joeowan »

Sorry to bring up a forever on going topic but i just want a final calcification before i begin the derestricion. i have a H1 1989.

so from what i read it is not abnormal that 110Mph is the common top speed of a restricted H1.

so to de restrict this i must add some resistors to the CDi and ignition wires, and/or remove the small tab in the speedo. so:

Do i have to do both or only one?

the tab is fine there is a well in-depth guide on this site however the resistors is not so clear, from what i read i need to cut the pink wire going to the CDI and attach a 10Kohm (1 wat ) resistor going from the CDI through the resistor and to earth?

i also need to cut the grey wire going to the ignition and insert a 100 ohm ( 1 Watt) resistor to 12v +

is this correct? and do i need to do both the wiring mods and the speedo tab or just one?

Sorry for bringing up an old topic but i want some calcification, many thanks.

thats correct, the ignition mod is only for L model bikes though, you only need to modify the pink wire for the H.

Brilliant thank you very much!

Do i also need to take the plate out of the speedo? or does the wiring mod discard the need for this?

cheers

The wiring mod fools the cd I into thinking you never hit the speed limit so no need to remove the tab.
