Was what I was going to say, did you drain them before storing the bike or has it been left with fuel in?CaNsA wrote:Cleaned the carbs?
I'll take a look at them when you bring the bike down if you want, won't add that much onto the bill?

Re: What's wrong with my bike now
i though id update this as i fix tink's bike this is not his fault, the bike was like this when he got it.
first things first, the old fuel in the carbs should never be black coffee colour with bits of debris in it...
and ive fixed his electrical problem in that he has no headlights dipped or main, im pretty sure the loom has been cut, raced and rebuilt, the dipped issue was that the blue/yellow wire to the fusebox was in the wrong place, moved it to the correct place and voila, dipped lights.
the main was due to a break in the white wire between the starter solenoid and the fusebox...now all sorted (see flickr video):
https://flic.kr/p/oQvY5A
not bad for 20 minutes work, ive also stripped the carbs, it was running 90 mains, pilots set at 4.5 to 5.25 turns out, and the idle adjuster cable wasnt doing anything, all on a snorkled airbox with k&n filter and straight through can...ive prescribed 105 mains, shims, and no snorkle...will see how it goes tonight.

Re: What's wrong with my bike now
yeah im pretty good...
its a video, click to view it in full, a complete turnaround from what it was
the idle takes a while to fall back down as ive not ballanced the carbs yet, and i had the idle adjuster set way too far screwed in, i adjusted it at 50s and you can see it drops back a lot better.
sounds rattly, but ive got the valve clearances still to do.
i hope you are happy tink

and by the way, when you get your bike sorted you are now obligated to come on a few rideouts, given that your only 15 minutes up the road

Re: What's wrong with my bike now
Tinks bike is now finished. Valve clearances done and carbs balanced. The bikes to.ing was also out, retarded by 1 tooth on both inlet and exhaust cams...now it doesn't sound like a bag of nails, revs freely with a good note and returns to idle smoothly...quality job. I've got a video to upload, I'll do it in the morning.

Re: What's wrong with my bike now
I'm really surprised at how quick you have managed to sort my bike as I brought it to you with a few problems but turned out the was loads of problems I didn't know about as I'm not clued up on the bikes mechanics.
If anyone has a problem with there bike have a word with banner as he really does know his stuff and if he has to work on your bike you will be surprised at the small price he charges compared to a garage and I would say he supply's a better service by miles.
Can't wait to pick my bike up and looking forward to seeing the video.
