Summer 2014 Group Meet-up

Post by banner001 »

Time: meetup from 11am to 1am, ride out at 1pm sharp.

Route: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Dorch ... 01!1m0!3e0

Date: Saturday 26th July 2014

Place: H cafe oxford (http://www.h-cafe.co.uk/apps/location/) OX10 7LY.

Yes i know its been tried before...and yes i know they have all been a disaster...but lets try and get one organised that people actually attend :D

Summer 2014 sounds like a good bet, nice high sun, reasonable chance of a dry day, less chance of seeing the sun, lots of daylight hours for a few hours of bike riding.

As a provisional start-up i was thinking of somewhere on the outskirts of Oxford, its close enough to London and the south, its on the motorways for those heading from the North/Midlands/Wales, and for those in Cornwall/Scotland...better leave early. It seems to be located in the best possible area given all the information i can acquire about peoples location.

July 2014 gives you a good 6 months to work on your bike, to get it roadworthy, doesnt have to look good, just has to turn up and be useable :D

A bit of a blast into the cotswolds before finding a fish and chip shop...sounds good to me :excited

More of a heads-up at this point, my bike is behaving itself at the moment so i should be free, if there can be even 5 bikes that turn up that would be fantastic!

ZXR400's if possible, if you come on anything else you will be sent to the back of the pack.
UK ZXR400 L3 (1993) - Fully restored and on the roads, my green beast!
JPN ZXR250 A2 (1990) - Revs to 19,200rpm... 'nuff said :smt003

ill have to do a straw poll on here closer to the time, but i would say its deffinitely gonna be in july, i thnk the best bet is to see who is in for it and then pick the best date.

For short-arsed not-very-confident riders like myself I'd love to come to one a bit further 'Up North' sometime if there was enough call for it.... We have very nice roads up here too, I'm excellent at dismounting on several of them :smt023
Does this bike make my ass look fast?

i have a spare room in my house and space in the garage to lock one additional bike up if anyone wanted to come down the night before and then leave for oxford in the morning (its just under an hour away for me), its not gonna be a fast-paced day, more of a leisurely ride through the countryside, bikes might get opened up once in a while, but you go at the pace of the slowest rider...its just gonna be a fun ride-out on similar-looking bikes, if you make sure to clean yours before coming to the meet it will look like a zxr400 showroom whenever we park up :D

Sounds like a very tempting idea! Got a couple of meets in the next few months so could add another. It's quite far from me though, Oxford. Currently in the land of Suffolk, so Oxford is roughly a couple hours ride away. Would be good to meet other forum members and their bikes though :excited smiler

its only 2.5 hours, i did 17 hours on my zxr400 once :D

make a note of this meet :D

oh and just to be clear, we will pick a semi-official date closer to summer time, but if it looks like its gonna bucket it down on that day it might move by a week...no point meeting up if its throwing it down.
