damaged fairing, and decal removal.

Post by dc1989 »

hi guys, i have a '94 in the good old black and purple with pink stickers, and recently the right hand fairing was melted, by a shite fitting exhaust from sandybikespares on ebay. it touched the fairing, and once it got through the heat shield, it melted the panel, which was in really good nick too.

because of the colour of the panel, its hard to find a used one online (not seen one yet in a week) and kawasaki want £555 plus VAT for the panel, also the pink decals arent being made anymore too.

my plan is gonna be to get a used fairing in any colour, have it painted in the black and purple, but with no decal.
im also going to remove the decals from the rest of the bike. everything other than on the tank, are just over the clear coat, so is it just a case of a bit of heat and slowly and carefully, remove them?

for the tank, because they are cleared over, im gonna just have the tank repainted and leave the stickers off.

the exhaust people wont pay for any damage that their crap exhaust has caused, just a refund for the exhaust itself. which is crap really.
