And so it begins....

I'll use this thread for progress on how the bikes coming along

Ok, so its coming on nicely, got the old broken bits off and the majority of the bike is stripped as far as it needs to go. Gonna use this as a bit of an excuse to trick the thing out abit.

So far I have/ordered

brake levers
rearsets
new exhaust
braided hoses
new set cowl

I need/want

New front wheel
Tyres
Maybe new calipers on ebay (fancy gixxer ones)
Possibly new forks
fairing
R & G's
after some pazzo's
Other bits i cant remember or will pick up along the way

The plan is now to get it back OTR as fast as possible, but also want it looking good! Gonna give it all a good clean with the state its in now, as it makes getting to those tight bits really easy!

Some pics.

New micron stubby (sounds incredible) Many thanks to rover220! Ta mate! utheman

Well me and Gem just stripped the bike back as far as it needs to go. Forks are out and look fine, yoke is off, the bottom bearing was absolutely shagged, it came off in pieces, top bearing is ok but they'll both be replaced.

@ Jake, the frame cant be bent mate, I hit side on, kind of 45 degree angle and the bike kind of slide round the curb for abit. It was only around a 15 mph hit anyhow.

Pics too follow.

LOL Rob!

We've working on it this morning and afternoon. The on good thing is the weathers toad, so i'd be off the bike anyway.

So, today we got the forks out, yoke out and organised some toad. We got the wheel out last night and disaster nearly struck when the forks fell off the front paddock stand, fucking thing, havn't trusted it from day one. Theres me trying to hold the bike up - heavy bitch - whilst my grandad runs to try and find a jack. Luckily it was resting on the caliper fixings, so we got the wheel out carefuly and put the spindle back in on an axel stand.

Getting the forks out was too easy, the majority of the bolts wern't done up tight tight, which could have been a result of the prang.
Image
They look pretty straight to me, still going to get them checked out.

Was time to get the headstock out and have a look at the top and bottom yokes, which called for another 'how do I keep my bike in the air' solution.
Image
Image
Note the absolutely shagged bottom bearing which came off in pieces..
Image
Left overs of the bottom bearing
Image
Yoke looks good, but will also have that checked out.
Image

Once that was done I got the brake lines off, dismantled them ready for the braiede hoses. If I don't win the 6 pots I'm after I'll strip them down replace the seals and give them a clean, new pads are on their way also.!

A final pic of the front wheel
Image

God knows how it hasn't gone flat yet!

Making progress now, the bikes stripped down as far as it needs to go, new parts will be flooding in this week. Oh well, off to work now!
