Re: rear light requirement
yes there is a law
UK National Regulations - The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 and The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 (C&U and RVLR)
Now go find the detail for yourself

Re: rear light requirement
I know there's a law relating to the distance of the indicators from the healight / rear light, ie those integrated LED tail light / indicator units will bag you up to 6 points - 3 points for each light incorrectly placed. (My brother got that on his Dynomite special R1 a few years ago.)
But I had 2No 70mm x 5mm LED Strips as my tail light before, and never got a slap on the wrists for it.

Re: rear light requirement
i can not find aNnything about sizes on there lol, basically, ive pus a single seat on my bike and instead of having the horrible square h model lights at the back i have cut 2x 38mm holes in the back of the seat unit and butted the lights up inside, it looks good but need to know if it will be legal?

Re: rear light requirement
just spoke to mot tester, he has said my lights will be fine, as long as there clearly visible, not showing any white light and no more than 50% obscured there fine!!so thats all good, oh and i dont even need a numberplate light!! result lol
