are they the same on H and L models?

Nope different, H1 is 26mm and L2 is 35, hope that helps, why you need to know?

So a 35mm socket should fit an L model one then? because mine doesn't and I measured it to be 35.65mm (with a digital vernier caliper no less) so had to use a 36 which was a bit big. Bad engineering I guess
