Whats it worth - My Kawasaki ZXR400 L9
Hey guys!
I'm looking to sell my beloved 2001 green ZXR400 L9 on a Y plate as I feel ready for a bigger bike. Just wondering what I should be asking for it.
A little info;
- Im the 3rd Keeper
- 17000 dry miles
- Double Bubble screen & ART loud carbon fibre slip on exhaust
- VGC for year
- New front Bridgestone / 2000 miles on the rear.
- Mot until Oct 2014 / 9 months tax
- Lots of service history / MOT's
What you guys reckon is should be asking for / aiming to get??
Cheers for any help!!

Re: Whats it worth - My Kawasaki ZXR400 L9
if it is in genuinely good condition ~£1600 sounds reasonable to me.
but thats an upper limit for a private sale, expect to get under a grand from a dealer unfortunatly...

Yeh a dealer offered me £1200 for it but said it would be perfectly reasonable for a private sale to expect £1600 / 1700.
So I was thinking of Ebay and then a reserve of like £1400??

A cynic would say they inflated the px value of your old bike bike to draw you in, and built it into the price you paid on the bike they were selling. But as long as you're happy at the end if the day, that's all that counts.

TBF I only paid £2000 5 years ago so losing £200 was pretty amazing whatever the exchange..

I don't think you understand. A simple explanation - I'm a bike dealer who wants to sell a new bike for £10000. Ignore the price that is physically written on the sticker for now.
You come in with your bike that you want to part ex, and secretly think its worth about £5000.
Now, I know the bike market well, because thats my job, and I know I can shift your old bike to my other dealer mate all day every day for £4000.
We have a chat, I offer you a coffee and compliment your bike. Through kickbacks from the manufacturer, extended warranties, finance agreements, other dealer tacked-on costs, and the haggle room I already had in the original sticker price realise I can offer you an artificially inflated £6000 part exchange price for your bike, and still come out on top.
All you're hearing is £6000 for your bike so you bite my hand off and the deals done.
Its one of many dealer tactics but they're a business not a charity so what do you expect.
