Visually gauging remaining petrol?

Post by jimsym »

After giving the fuel system a good clean i'd prefer to keep myself from using the reserve tap.

I peered into the tank, but realised I dont actually have a good estimate of how much fuel is left. It seems there are three or so raised 'humps' (middle one pictured) which might make some good visual markers.

Thoughts?

I fill up every 100miles.
reset the trip at every fill up.
I can get 120 miles before I need to hit the reserve.
