carbon fibre direct replacement side fairings

Post by guitarcarrot »

Hi guys, just wondering, how many of you would be intrested in carbon fibre fairings that would be a direct replacement for the originals, we've got a few ideas to start with...

1) A fibreglass construction with a single layer of carbon on top for the awesome carbon look.
2) 2/3/4 layers of carbon for weightsaving and the carbon look

Looking at doing side panels and rear panels, just trying to get a gauge of interest, ill probably be making up some for myself in the next few weeks/months, just wondering if anyone else fancied them if I could keep the prices down?

Would use twill carbon as in this beauty... viewtopic.php?f=87&t=11540

Cheers :)

Im interested as well depending on the main factors of price, fit and quality. Woul you consider making other panels such as the tank/Hoover tube cover, fairing infills etc?

Ok, I can't give a price really accurately until my dad has made one up, but I'm going to say between £125 and £150 per side, and yeah that hoover tube cover could be done fairly easily, my dad is the one who will be doing it, he homebuilds composite light aircraft as a hobby and therefore has about 25 years experience with mainly carbon, kevlar/aramid and fiberglass, so quality shouldn't be an issue :)

We'll get one made up as a prototype/show piece, then show photos on here for you to judge on ;)
