Re: what I need for a turbo ?
seriously it would cost too much, modifications to the bike, upgrades to the brakes etc, price of the parts, unless you expect to have a bike worth thousands and cherish it for the rest of its life i wouldn't contemplate it, talk to people like bigCC co and people out there that are fitting turbos to bikes, just get a feel of what works involved.Better off spending the money on a bigger bike.

These 1989, H1 models are getting rarer n rarer so I'm still going ahead. I have a 5k to have it turbo-ed, new fairings & maybe full engine rebuild, I brought it for £800 n all ready spent around 1k on partsmasterofinsanity wrote:seriously it would cost too much, modifications to the bike, upgrades to the brakes etc, price of the parts, unless you expect to have a bike worth thousands and cherish it for the rest of its life i wouldn't contemplate it, talk to people like bigCC co and people out there that are fitting turbos to bikes, just get a feel of what works involved.Better off spending the money on a bigger bike.

Re: what I need for a turbo ?
surely it would depend what power you are looking for? if you want to shove a turbo on it just for pub ammo then i would guess:- custom manifold, turbo, custom downpipe, oil feed (depending on type of turbo), one-off brackets. if your going for bigger power then add some cams, intercooler, forged pistons and rods, lower compression, 5th injector with ecu, dyno time for it to be set up properly, possibly need the engine strengthning, dials and gauges. thats without the fairings, suspension changes, possibly different swingarm to fit a rear tyre capable of handling the power ect. even with all that, the cost would probably be as much if not more than you could get a zx10r for. insurance would also be a bit steep id imagine.
im just guessing here though.
you would also need these.
