going to the dark side...!

Post by beermaker »

Total disaster - wrote my van off before christmas and now the gearbox has packed in on the car. Used the motorhome for a week earlier in the year to come to work but it costs £70 a week in diesel! Since I haven't got the parts for my ZXR yet I've just had to book my old Suzuki GS500 in for an MOT tomorrow. Just hope it'll start - it's been stuck in a shed for three years! Will just have to cross my fingers and hope!

On a similar thread - I'm selling my motorhome to buy another car if anyones interested! a C reg Talbot Autotrail, 20 foot long, 6 berth with all the usual bits and pieces. Will also be selling the GS500 when the ZXR is working again!

wow... unlucky for some, at least you have an alternative though, if anything, riding a GS will give you motivation to get the ZXR up and running :smt002

if all else fails just slip the tester a ton or a quick :smt008 :pmsl

should pass ok as long as it starts - it's been stood idle for four years. Hopefully a bit of fresh petrol and some easy-start should be the trick!

The GS isn't a bad little bike - it was my trusty steed for years, did loads of miles on it in all weather!

Yeah they are pretty cool bikes if I'm honest, but I prefer something a little more retro... Like my trusty old 1979 C90ZZ round headlight model with only 12k miles ;) its SO slow it makes it great fun to ride :smt003

Well good luck for tomorrow mate!!!

well would you believe it??!! two years out in the open without a cover on, two years in a shed. Pumped up the tyres, splash of fresh petrol and a jump start off a tractor battery and the bugger started! To top it all it flew through it's MOT to boot so I'm mobile again! A lad in the garage even wants first refusal on it when I get the ZXR up and running again :o) good day all round really :o) :excited

I would do but I can't get down there due to work and I have to wait for insurance certificates anyway as Swinton don't do them online, although will phone them to see if they can email me a copy later :o) Very good price considering I wrote my van off in December and I have six points on my license (both times for doing 34 I hasten to add - totally accept I was speeding but very annoyed when I see prats on Road Wars driving like knobends in their BMWs getting a bit of a telling off! :smt013

all sorted now - was going to pop into the branch in Darlington today but the MID was updated this morning so didn't have to in the end :-) Just picked the bike up from my folks house and brought it home and was a little scared by the front brake! Lame is not the word!! I know I'm more used to twin disks up front now but really!! Checked pads and disk and they're not bad, so drained the fluid out (I say fluid, I mean sludge!) pumped fresh fluid through and bled the caliper - remains to be seen tomorrow whether it's made any difference! Can't wait to get the ZXR working again though! The GS is a great bike but just not the same!!
