headstock and rear paddock stands?

Post by guitarcarrot »

After contemplating an abba stand I decided that these would probably be more versatile, http://cgi.ebay.com/310291252459
What do you reckon? but I was going to be doing some work on the rear shock/linkage/swingarm, I don't know how much the abba would lift the bike, which would be better? Cheers guys!

You wont get near the suspension linkage with a stand that hold the bike up via the swingarm
bike needs to be supported by other means

I've stripped the back end off a few bikes by supporting the front end on a paddock stand, rope from the handlebars up to the roof beams in the shed for support and then hoisted the back end with a block and tackle and a sling under the rear subframe

I phrased my post very badly, sorry for getting sarky lol have had a really shite day on the bike, shims I bought that were advertised as 3.00 turned out to be 2.97mm and I paid a fortune on special saturday delivery balls, so wasted cash and another few days without the bike :(

Anyway, I know I need a centre stand to do the swingarm etc, but for everything else a set of those stands would make life a lot easier, as I wouldn't have to piss around with weighting the rear end down when removing the front wheel etc, and an abba would get in the way when dropping the block out,

If I had the cash I'd get one of these:http://www.google.com/m/url?channel=bro ... ztLKDnyJ7w

Cheers guys,

You obviously didn't spot my post about shims here viewtopic.php?f=117&t=13148 I'll see if I can get the mods to make it a sticky. Get your shims here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VALVE-SHIM-CR ... 35bb55b3d9 I can recommend these guys, the shims are as stated and he doesn't charge extra for next day delivery - every order comes next day by 1st class post. I ordered some at 3.30pm once and they were in my postbox next morning.
